Edinburgh Azure User Group (EAUG) — last updated 26 April 2026
The Edinburgh Azure User Group (EAUG) is a volunteer-run community group based in Edinburgh, Scotland, dedicated to bringing together Microsoft Azure enthusiasts and professionals. This website and its associated services are operated by the EAUG organisers.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@eaug.co.uk.
When you sign in with LinkedIn, we receive and store:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your LinkedIn profile picture — you can choose whether to display this on your profile via your profile settings
- Whether your LinkedIn email is verified
When you complete your profile, we additionally store: a bio, Azure skills and experience level, website URL, and social media handles you choose to provide.
When you RSVP to an event, we store a record of your attendance linked to your account.
We use your data solely to operate the EAUG community platform:
- To authenticate you and maintain your session
- To display your profile to other EAUG members
- To send you event confirmation and cancellation emails
- To send you a welcome email when you first join
- To send you a 6-digit sign-in code when you use the email login fallback (available only for members already registered via LinkedIn)
- To track event attendance for organisational purposes
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the service.
We use LinkedIn as a sign-in provider via OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect. When you sign in, LinkedIn shares your basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) with us as described in Section 2.
Sign-in only requests basic profile information — we no longer ask for posting permission at sign-in. If you choose to share your event attendance to your LinkedIn feed using the "Promote on LinkedIn" button, we request the w_member_social scope at that moment, use the resulting one-time access token to publish that single post, and then discard it. We do not store posting tokens, and we will never post on your behalf without your explicit per-post action.
You can revoke our app's access at any time from your LinkedIn privacy settings.
Your data is stored in Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB, hosted in the Azure cloud. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
Sessions expire after 12 hours of inactivity.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data via your profile page
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict how we process your data
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@eaug.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are used on this site.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
